Google adds agent shopping data and will drop a YouTube report
Summary
Google's October Merchant API release adds two alpha reporting views for checkout that AI agents complete in AI Mode and Gemini, and retires YoutubeProductPerformanceView in favor of two replacement views with no sunset date.
Move any YoutubeProductPerformanceView query to the replacement views now, since the notes name no date when the old view stops returning rows.
Google’s October 2026 Merchant API release adds reporting for purchases that AI agents complete through Google, and marks YoutubeProductPerformanceView as deprecated in favor of two new views, according to Search Engine Roundtable. Both changes sit in the API’s v1alpha Reports sub-API, per Google’s October 2026 release notes.
Most of the release is ordinary feed maintenance: a store homepage URI in the Accounts sub-API, offer-level video links, wider warranty attribute support, product certification links, and United Kingdom energy efficiency enums. The two v1alpha reporting lines are the ones that can change a report someone already reads.
The agentic line is listed as UCP agentic performance reporting. UCP is Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol, the standard behind agent checkout on Google surfaces such as AI Mode and Gemini. The release adds two views to accounts.reports.search:
| View | What it reports |
|---|---|
UcpAgenticPerformanceView | Account-level conversion funnel, order, cancellation and cart transfer metrics, by date and customer country |
UcpAgenticProductPerformanceView | Product-level buy button clicks per offerId, by date and customer country |
Google also published an “Analyze UCP agentic performance (Alpha)” guide with sample Merchant Center Query Language queries.
This report matters more than its alpha label suggests. Purchases an agent completes on a shopper’s behalf are hard to count from a merchant’s own analytics, because agent and chatbot fetches often bypass client-side tracking and show up only in server logs. A platform-side report is the only count of that demand most merchants will get. The same alpha reporting already carries the cart transfer counts for Google’s Universal Cart, so this release widens a surface that can still change without notice.
The YouTube line is the one that can break something. Google has deprecated YoutubeProductPerformanceView in the v1alpha Reports sub-API in favor of YoutubeProductSoldStatsView and YoutubeProductTaggedStatsView. The release notes give no date when the old view stops returning rows. An alpha version is where Google puts a surface it still intends to change, so the safer assumption is that a deprecated alpha view ends whenever Google ships next.
What to do
- Search your integration code and scheduled report queries for both strings:
grep -rn "v1alpha\|YoutubeProductPerformanceView" .For each hit, note what breaks if the call starts erroring and who outside the team reads the output. - Move any
YoutubeProductPerformanceViewquery to the two replacement views now, and compare a week of output side by side before switching dashboards. The notes name replacements but no notice period. - Export the
YoutubeProductPerformanceViewhistory you still need into your own warehouse or a flat file. - Pin explicit version strings in client configuration rather than following whatever the current docs show, and read the Merchant API release notes monthly. This deprecation was one line in the changelog, not a separate notice.
- If agent checkout matters to the business, start pulling
UcpAgenticPerformanceViewnow and keep every row, but label any dashboard built on it as provisional so nobody books a quarterly number against an alpha surface.
